HEAD INSTRUCTOR

KP earned his  B.A  in Theatre Arts from California State University, Fresno.  He pursued his Master of Fine Arts in Acting from University of Hawaii, Manoa, where he studied Asian Theatre forms. KP is an Actor (1st), Director, Playwright, stunt/fight coordinator,and Acting coach for 15 + years.  As an acting coach, he has taught at various studios in California and Hawaii helping, developing, and guiding students to be successful in their career and life.

KP’s students have been featured in local/national commercials, film/television such as Lost, Hawaii, Northshore, Hawaii 5-0, Off the map Pirates of the Caribbean, independent films, and local theatre, etc.  KP worked on the feature film Finding Hope Now as the Acting Coach/Consultant, and as the Asian Gang Leader. He is also the Associate Producer/Stunt coordinator for the independent film Cross.Casting/coordinating for a feature film Biohazard (Zombie Apocalypse).KP stunt coordinator on a feature film SHOWBOYS, THE CONTENDER,Etc. He also has worked with CHRISTIAN STRICKLAND on a music video with casting/coordinating, and just worked  as a fight/stunt coordinator on a film.

As an ACTOR, he had the opportunity to tour  Japan, Taiwan, mainland China, and various cities.

On the local scene: KP has worked and trained with many of the local theater organizations. He was a member of Theatre Three Repertory Company in California, where he was the Artistic Director Assistant. He worked or performed with: Theatre J’Nerique, Center-Stage Productions, Kee Company, Fresno Children’s Playhouse, and many more organizations!  He is currently working with different advertising agencies consulting and booking talents.

BRANDEY STEINER (DIRECTOR/ACTING COACH)

ACTING COACH/CONSULTANT

Brandey L.Stiener is a very talent actress,director,playwright, and consultant. She’s the owner of the BROKEN LEG STAGE (www.brokenlegstage), a 50 seat black box theatre in the Central Valley. She was the last Executive Director and Artistic Director of the FRESNO CHILDREN PLAYHOUSE, a 500 seat house. Brandey also has an experience in the  MARKETING/PROMOTIONAL arena for THEATRE THREE REPORTORY COMPANY,  promotional marketing for local bands in HAWAII, and many more. She was the performing Arts instructor for Valley Arts and Science Academy. Brandey has performed over 15 plus plays and been in several films.  She  is also an accomplish playwright such as PLAYING THE LOTERY WITH FORTUNE COOKIES, BLACK SILK IN THE MIRROR, WHITE RICE CHRISTMAS,etc. She has assisted and coordinated Casting for BIOHAZARD:ZOMBIE FILM, Local commercials, and local theatre. Brandey was the director of THE GODLING, which was successful at the ROGUE FESTIVAL which got rave reviews. Also she directed THE BOY WHO STOLE THE STARS. She will be directing a one-man show coming up in late October and early November at THE BROKEN LEG.

BRIAN EMERSON (IMPROV COACH)

Brian Emerson has been a performer for over 17 years. In addition to several stage and screen credits, he has studied shortform and longform improvisation at ComedySportz Philadelphia and San Jose, trained musical improvisation under master teacher Jill Bernard in Philadelphia, and has even clashed swords with fellow improvisation instructor and Fresno native Alan Hawkins.

Improvisation is an essential feather in the cap of all actors, regardless of medium. If you’re serious about honing your craft, then you must study improvisation. Whether you want to learn shortform or longform, delve into the depths of “the Harold,” or just improve your audition and acting skills while having tons of fun, improvisation is the perfect place to start! In addition, you’ll gain a valuable skill that can actually improve your personal life as well. Do better in interviews, dates, making friends. Heck, improvisation is practically a cure-all! So, what are you waiting for?!

NICK HAAS (IMPROV COACH)

 

Nick Haas is a local actor who improvises. He has been doing local theatre since 2006. In 2007 he cofounded the Blimprov Comedy Troupe with other local improvisers to study, perform, and advance Improv in the central valley. Blimprov has performed at local Theatres, High Schools, Bars, Restaurants and Festivals since its inception. He has studied at Fresno City College, CSU Fresno, CSU Summer Arts as well as The Second City with Dave Razowsky and Dave Hill.

ANN VERMEL (SHAKESPEARE/CLASSICAL COACH) Photo coming soonANN VERMEL has directed more than 50 productions, including children’s theater, old fashioned melodramas, Greek tragedies, musical comedy, Albee, opera and Shakespeare.  She has established Shakespeare Companies in Visalia (1979-81) and on the Queen Mary, in Long Beach. Consulted on establishment of outdoor Shakespeare in Minneapolis, MN (2001). Recently completed coordinating performing arts for the Warnor’s Center for the Performing Arts, Fresno, CA. Artistic Administrator for the San Francisco Opera, (1976-1979).  She has trained at Fresno State College, MFA ,Theater/ Neighborhood Playhouse – Sanford Meisner/ Stella Adler/ Actor’s Studio – Logan Ramsay/Ed Hooks /Blackbird Players (New England)/ Tanglewood Opera Workshop/Sara Caldwell and Boris Goldovsky /Intensives and workshops with Harold Clurman/Lee Breur and Peter Schumann (Bread & Puppet Theater)/ John Ford on Shakespeare/Feldenkrais/Fitzmaurice Voice technique/10 years voice for classical singing – Ina Souez, Emmy JosephUniversity of Kansas, Theater Department/ Barnard College, Drama Program.

Some major roles performed: Emily, Our Town; Andromache, Trojan Women; Arkadina, The Seagull; Dolly Levi, The Matchmaker; Annie Sullivan, The Miracle Worker; Eliza Doolittle, My Fair Lady and Pygmalion; Ado Annie, Oklahoma; Lady Macbeth, The Scottish Play; Gertrude, Hamlet; Hedda, Hedda Gabler; Narrator, Under Milkwood; performed secondary characters in most of the major plays of Shakespeare, except Dream and Tempest. Appeared at the Lewis and Young Music Circus, Maine State Shakespeare Festival, the Hartford Stage Company, off-Broadway (musical comedy), the Wastepaper Theatre (Providence, R.I.) and the Berkeley Arts Festival.
