- We offer acting programs at every level; not tidbits of one aspect of acting. They are designed for the actor who is just beginning and to the actor who has a professional career. I still have actors I’ve trained for 10 years with me. They are working but still train. This GYM isn’t for someone who thinks they can get to be an A star on the fast lane. The world doesn’t work that way for the majority of us, and if you think you are one of the few who can… well go somewhere else and take your tidbit acting classes just to put on your resume.
- Our acting programs at THE ACTORS GYM are all professional acting programs focusing on acting, the growth of the actor, and auditioning for film, television, commercials and stage. You are always training and developing- I don’t leave people stagnant.
- All programs are taught with a proven curriculum and a sound structure to ensure each talent’s growth. I can’t guarantee you will turn into the next Pachino, or a Meryl Streep. You will grow and be the best of you as an actor.
- Assessments: for 30 minutes. For new actors who are looking for an assessment of their abilities and advice on furthering their career or skill set. Be prepared to do a cold reading if asked.
- Consultations: for 30 minutes, my students are free, outsiders $25. Discussions regarding work, career, skills, direction, advice, etc…Bring your head shots and resumes. I will tell you what you need to know about them. If it’s a bad head shot I will tell you and what you can do to correct it. I won’t push someone on you to take photographs of you. I don’t care if you have a friend who is a photographer, want one of my friends who are, or your mother. If they take a good head shot of you, that’s all that counts. I don’t make my living off of commissions from head shots like others.

PROFESSIONAL WORKSHOP SERIES
Keep your eyes out as we bring you industry people to the GYM. WORKSHOPS in the planning…..
SHAKESPEARE/CLASSICAL WORKSHOP (ON-GOING)
ACTORS GYM would like to welcome on board ANN VERMEl, who will be our SHAKESPEARE/CLASSICAL instructor. CLASS STARTS JULY 11, 2010. ONGOING Training. This is not a quick class to get only pieces of information. You will be trained and evaluated as you grow. Ann has an impressive theatrical background in the performancing arts. As an actor, it is important to be well rounded. Personally, I know that casting directors/agents will look at those who have been trained in Shakespeare/classical work. Not cast in community plays but trained. WHY? It is a well disciplined area in the arts, and the classical plays cover universal themes that endure the ages. Once you can start grasping those characters you will be better served, when you start needing a place to draw from in parts you play in the future. Look at great examples, Sir Lawrence Oliver (I trained under his protégé’ Terence Knapp), Judy Dench, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellan, Kenneth Branagh, lot of Sci-Fi/ Fantasy actors you see such as those on Lord Of the Rings- Ben Kingsley, and Harry Potter. With Ann on Board, there are no excuses. Get training, and grow!
INSTRUCTOR: ANN VERMEL
